2024: PDP House of Reps Member, OShine Gives Account of Stewardship
As the economic hardship in the country bites harder by the day, political office holders have been encouraged to put in more efforts towards lifting people out of poverty and bringing about a shared prosperity that will lessen the burdens on the people.
Rep Najimdeen Oyeshina Oyedeji, popularly known as Oshine, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, gave this charge recently, noting that in his capacity as the Representative of his people, he has made many efforts to place constituents on the path of prosperity through several programmes.
Oyedeji, who stated this during one of the numerous empowerment programmes organised for the constituents, said he has facilitated these interventions, cutting across education, health, agriculture and economic sectors, to cushion the effects of economic hardship on people and also to alleviate poverty.
Oshine, who was elected on the platform of the PDP, his efforts to empower women and youths have seen him facilitate a cooperative scheme for market women and youths, give startup capitals to over 400 youths and women in the constituency and also distributed over 130 equipment to artisans, including tailors, mechanics and hairdressers.
Also, in line with his commitment to supporting his constituents, the lawmaker sponsored Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registrations for about 50 businesses owned by youth entrepreneurs in the constituency, facilitated a Film and Video Editing training for selected youths and distributed about 80 laptops to youths and students.
Apart from empowering businesses and entrepreneurs, the lawmaker revealed that he has been able to facilitate employments in the Nigeria Police, Oyo State Road Transport Maintenance Authority and other Ministries, Departments and Agencies at the federal and state levels, for scores of young constituents
Oyedeji added that his representation has also focused on the agriculture sector largely, stating that as a Representative of a constituency that is largely agrarian, with many farming communities and residents, he has made countless efforts in supporting farmers and ensuring food security.
He maintained that so far, he has facilitated the distribution of over 700 bags of fertilizers to farmers, while he also embarked on Tractor subsidy, which has seen farmers plough their lands at reduced prices in the constituency as well as the grading of some farm settlements’ roads.
He added that about 300 solar lights have also been installed across the constituency, with particular focus on farm settlements and farming communities.
These efforts in the agriculture sector, Oyedeji said, have begun to yield positive fruits, with his constituency emerging the highest in maize production in Oyo State, adding that plans have also been concluded to distribute chemicals, herbicides and others to hundreds of farmers towards the coming farming season.
The lawmaker equally gave his stewardship in the health sector, where he facilitated a Primary Health Care Centre that is nearing completion, while he also constructed a toilet at a popular cow market to prevent open defecation and control diseases.
In the education sector, Oshine points to the construction of six (6) classrooms in Okeho, the distribution of about 15,000 exercise books and Mathematical Set to students in the federal constituency as well as the issuance of bursary/scholarship awards to 42 students in SAF Polytechnics, Iseyin.
The distribution of food palliatives to young and old across the expansive constituency, the construction of several boreholes and the repair of a few moribund motorised water projects in Itesiwaju and Kajola Local Government Areas, are the other gains of Rep Oyedeji’s representation.
One of the beneficiaries of the start-up capital, Hadijat Akano, summarized the joys of thousands of people already touched by the effect of Oshine’s charismatic leadership by saying that “Hon. Oshine has brought joys to many faces. I am one of the 400 youths who got a startup capital after undergoing training. This is the best way for politicians to empower constituents and we will always be grateful.”
Of a truth, anyone who knows Oshine well would know that the impactful effects of his positive representation could not come as unexpected, as he is well-experienced in legislative representation, having been around the corridors of the House of Representatives since the turn of the millennium though not in an elective capacity.
Today, across the constituency, the mark of Hon. Oyedeji’s people-centred representation has been conspicuous through projects and programmes that have brought joy to many.
The exciting part, however, is that the lawmaker has promised to do more in the New Year, noting that he realizes that to whom much is given, much is expected, and he would not let down the people.
