The executive chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr Akeem Olatunji, has called on party stakeholders to hold tightly to unity as the council moves toward the political currents already gathering ahead of 2027.

He made the appeal during a meeting with the Oluyole LG PDP executive members in his office Wednesday at the Council Secretariat, Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.

He disclosed that the decision follows a wider consultation with other leaders of the party at both local government and state levels. He emphasized PDP remains supreme to all members and that party unity is non negotiable in order to record more victories in future elections.

Olatunji clarified the consequences of allowing individual political ambition or interests to override what was described as ‘collective purpose’ and what such could cost the overall fortune of the party in any election.

“Politics may be a game of interests but those interests lose meaning the moment they begin to threaten collective strength of the party,” Olatunji declared.

He told the executives that no personal ambition should outweigh the peace and cohesion of the party, disclosing that he had willingly ceded some ward executive slots allotted to him and his supporters in the ongoing harmonization process.

The gesture, he explained, was to demonstrate that sacrifices are sometimes necessary if the party must remain intact.

A divided house stands no chance in any contest, he warned. He urged politicians to check their impulses and remember that public service becomes hollow when internal wrangling overshadows the mission.

Olatunji also tied his message to the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde, whose leadership he described as a model for purposeful governance.

“Anyone with the genuine desire to serve the people should take a hard look at the governor’s approach to politics and administration and draw inspiration from it,” Olatunji said.

He however, praised the Commissioner for Works, Honourable Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola and all otherhe leaders in Oluyole who he commended for being loyal party men and women.

He noted that political interests may appear as personal animosity to the public but clarified that “everyone in the party remains a bonafide member of one big political family.”

The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Hon Adeniyi Akorede, Oluyole PDP executive members led by its chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Hamzat, the Special Assistant on Oluyole federal constituency; Hon. Olumide Akinlade.

Others were the General Secretary; Folashade Idowu, Moruff Oladapo; youth Leader, Adekunle Nike; Women Leader,

Arewa Sanni; PDP Vice Chairman, and others.
