NYCN Urges Makinde to Fulfill Promises Made to The Youths During #EndSARS Protest
Government at all levels have been called upon to wake up to the new reality that youth engagement is not optional but a necessity, as there effects have a direct or indirect impact.
The Chairperson National Youth Council of Nigeria NYCN Oyo State Council, Comrade Adebobola Agbeja, who made the call while briefing newsmen on this Year’s celebration of National Youth Day at Youth House Yemetu, Ibadan, said Young people deserve the right to represent their interests and be at the forefront of decision making.
Agbeja who described year 2020 as a special years, starting with Global shock of Covid-19 Pandemic and with most recent EndSars Campaign geared towards ending Police brutality, said Nigeria need to change formation in terms of approaches to scenarios and maintain direction whose goals is to make the nation work again.
While decrying the peaceful protest hijacked by miscreants who truncate the noble intention of the call said the NYC are waiting on Oyo State government to constitute panel of judicial of enquiry, to seek justice for people involved in police brutality.
She urged Governor Makinde to without hesitation fulfill all the promises made to youths in the cause of discontinuing the End-SARS protest, admonished Nigerians to always think global but act locally as the only way to celebrate the day beyond a day or seasonal celebration.
This year’s theme for the National Youth Day which is celebrated every 5th of November is “Youth Voices, Actions, Engagement: Building A Better Africa” geared towards achieving four Es: Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Engagement.
