OYRTMA TO PARTNER STAKEHOLDERS IN MAINTAINING NEWLY COMMISSIONED ULTRA-MODERN PARKS
Earlier today, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde commissioned the pioneer ultramodern park for Motorcycles and Tricycles at Agodi-gate bus stop, Ibadan.
In his address, the Governor said, “Today, we commissioned the Bike Park at Agodi Gate for use. This pilot project will be replicated all over the state if it works according to the design plan. While we do not plan to ban commercial motorcycles and tricycles, we will regulate their operations in Oyo State.
I appealed to the riders to get better organised so that they can assist the government in regulating their activities. We will be registering all operators for easier identification and to curb the menace of motorcycles being used to commit crimes in our state”.
Meanwhile, in his comments shortly after the official commissioning, the Executive Chairman, OYO State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi expressed appreciation to the Executive Governor for providing the much needed facility that would help take the ‘okada’ riders off the road median and make the roads saner and safer for the good people of Oyo State.
He reiterated the readiness of OYRTMA to work closely with relevant stakeholders including the Park Management Officers and leadership of organized Motorcycle and Tricycle Associations to efficiently maintain the facility and elongate it’s use by the people of the State.
