The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State command has beefed up security architecture around some areas in Ibadan metropolis. This was disclosed by the force Public Relation Officer, Fadeyi on a live interview programme at a radio station anchored by Isaac Brown Mayor this Thursday.

Mr Fadeyi noted that before the issue of COVID-19 and the curfew imposed by the Oyo State Government, there were incidence of robberies. He added that heavy deployment have been made all around the cosmopolitan city.
He said the convoy patrol, the commissioner of Police Eagle Patrol as well as the twenty four hours surveillance patrol are the measures put in place by the Police to fight crimes in the state.
He advised members of the public to always make use of the police control room numbers and the 615 number of the Swift Respond Squad. He added that concerted efforts are being put in place to arrest the hoodlums terrorising innocent residents at night.

The Force PRO admitted that some of the criminals have been apprehended. He revealed that some of the criminals arrested operate on Okada and have been sent to the Anti-Robbery Squad for investigation, adding that some of those arrested would serve as links to those at large. He said this will enable security agents to clampdown on others and bring them to book.

When asked how it is possible for the armed robbers to operate comfortably when the curfew imposed is still in force? Mr Fadeyi described it as an absurd which would have been impossible without internal collaboration around some of the areas. He noted that vehicles are not expected to move, likewise people are meant to remain indoor all through the night.

Fadeyi warned the hoodlums who are planning to disrupt the peace equilibrium in the state to desist from such act. He charged parents and guardians to warn their children and wards who are not well kempt to stop indulging in any illicit act that could land them in police net. He affirmed that no one will be spared if anyone one is caught perpetrating any heinous crime in the state.
You recall that there have been reported cases of armed robbery and sporadic shooting in areas like Soka, Idi Arere, Ososami among others.
