Oyo SDGs, ALGON Stress Importance of Productivity to Aid Development
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Hon Kunle Yusuff has emphasized the need to mobilize more resources through depth collaboration between governments and citizens with the view to promoting productivity, shared prosperity and competitiveness of the Nigeria economy.
Yusuff stated this on Tuesday when Oyo ALGON Chairman, Hon Sikiru Sanda led some select Local Government Chairmen from Oyo State to Abuja to attend capacity building workshop organized by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter – Government affairs on “Translating SDGs Global Goals into Local Government Business in Nigeria” which was coordinated by Office of the SDGs.
The SDGs boss noted that the major focus of the workshop is ultimately the 774 Local Government Councils which will be empowered to drive value, adding economic activities on primary raw materials and natural endowments at the council wards.
Speaking at the event, Hon Sikiru Sanda noted that the purpose of this programme is to use SDGs Implementation tool of global partnership as a nationally owned multi stakeholders’ platform using 17 Global Goals in 774 Local Govt to promote accelerate economic development at the community levels.
“The program has also open up Investments partnership for local governments.”
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on SDGs also led the PSU to attend the technical session of the workshop.
The event was attended by the chairman, Association of Local Government in Nigeria, Oyo Chapter, Hon Sikiru Sanda of Egbeda Local Government. Others include Chairman of Iwajowa LG, representing Oyo North, Chairman Ogo-Oluwa LG, representing Oyo Central and Chairman Ibadan North- East LG, representing Oyo South.
