Leadership Retreat: ‘We Can’t Afford To Let Our People Down’ – Makinde Charges Appointees
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde has called for more synergy and collaborative efforts among different government Ministries, Agencies, Parastatals for the success of his administration and delivery of good governance to the people of the state.
Governor Makinde made the call at the Omituntun 2. 0 leadership retreat organized for Heads of Ministries, Parastatals, and Agencies in the state at the Conference Hall of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA, Ibadan.
The retreat programme was themed, “Adaptive leadership strategies in an uncertain time”
Governor Seyi Makinde, who delivered a lecture on Omituntun 2.0 Sustainable development mantra described the retreat as an opportunity for the decision makers to rub minds and come up with strategies that will enhance effective implementation of Omituntun 2.0 agenda.
The Governor said his administration could not afford to let the people of the state down, stressed that policy, projects, or activities his government embarked upon must have a long term effect on the people of the state.
Earlier in her welcome address, the secretary to the state government, SSG Professor Olanike Adeyemo, said the retreat is very strategic to ensure that the new and old members of the present administration in Oyo State work together to achieve a common goal.
She added that the retreat Programmes would avail participants the opportunity to listen to various resource persons on how to handle government duties and their personal life.
In their separate lectures, Dr Sola Adeduntan and Mr. Olaniyi Yusuf, emphasized on the need of the leaders to portray abilities to solve crisis, as human and challenges are inseparable.
Some of the appointees who spoke with newsmen admitted that the retreat would
sharpen individual leadership skills, and ensure team work towards achieving the set goals of the state government.
The Programme also availed some commissioners and heads of Agencies the opportunity to present their achievements from the inception of Omituntun 1.0.
