Investigation Bureau Probes Ibadan Crash, Demands Video Evidence

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has requested the general public to support it in achieving a successful and credible investigation of the air crash which occurred on Friday night at the Ibadan Airport Runway 22, involving a private jet owned by Flint Aero.

The bureau’s request was contained in a statement, on Saturday, by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Dr James Odaudu, and made available to The PUNCH.

The statement revealed that public assistance was needed via video clips of the incident, relevant evidence and any information that would aid its successful investigation of the accident.

The statement reads in part, “As the investigating agency, NSIB needs and hereby solicits your assistance. We want the public to know that we would be amenable to receiving any video clip, relevant evidence, or information any members of the public may have of the accident; that can assist us with this investigation.”

The bureau craved the public’s indulgence in respecting the privacy of those involved in the crash, stressing that assumptions should not be made on the cause of the accident till a formal report of the incident is released.

The statement added, “The Bureau will appreciate that the general public and press respect the privacy of the people involved and NOT assume the cause of the serious incident until the formal report is released.

“The Bureau will release the preliminary report as soon as possible.”

NSIB further confirmed that there were no casualties as may be peddled by mischief makers.

“There was no fatality, as all passengers and crew were safely evacuated”, the statement concluded.

The aircraft, with 10 passengers and 3 crew members onboard was en-route Ibadan from Abuja.
