Our attention as a peace loving and law abiding citizen of AFIJIO Local Government has been drawn to a Press Release signed by the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation after an interactive meeting held yesterday at the Western Hall, Secretariat at the instance of our amiable and indefatigable Deputy Governor of the State in the very person of Barrister Bayo Lawal with almost all the invited Stakeholders in attendance including but not limited to the vibrant Representatives of AFIJIO Descendants Union which is the umbrella Union of all AFIJIO indegenes both at home and in the diaspora but to our dismay and utmost surprise, the information contained in the so Press Release was a direct opposite of what actually transpired at the interactive session.

While it was unanimously resolved and generally accepted by all the Stakeholders present that those AFIJIO public primary schools that were illegally and forcefully closed down by elements from Oyo Local Governments some ten years ago or thereabouts be reopened without delay in the interest of the suffering pupils who had been denying the rights to have access to good and quality primary education and that through out the duration of the interactive session presided over by His Excellency the Deputy Governor.

There was no general consensus as to which of the concerned Local Governments own any of the so called disputed schools but to our surprise the press release signed by theĀ  later came out to indicate where those schools were situated which ordinarily is a gross misrepresentation of the actual facts.

As a matter of historical fact, all the so called ‘disputed’ schools spread across the constitutionally recognized geographical/territorial boundaries of AFIJIO LG and for whom it may concern to verify the above stated fact, vouchers showing that AFIJIO LG has been responsible for the payment of salaries and allowances of Teachers posted to all these schools that were forcefully closed down by the Oyo Elites and supported most powerfully by the Royalty.

The State Government through the office of the commissioner for Education and Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation is hereby enjoined to please kindly cross-check the facts and figures before going to the media to release a sensitive Press Release which is full of contractions that has very far reaching implications on the general happiness of the generality of sizeable number of the people here in Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West Federal Constituency.

The Hon Commissioner for Information should be implored to retract the information released to the public as being NOT the true and correct proceedings of what actually happened at the meeting.

Failure of which has very tendencies to have negative impact on the current semblance of peace which we are currently experiencing here in our locality.

Sir, please kindly help expedite action on this our above request in record time as a ‘stich in time, they say saves Nine’.

We shall be looking forward to ur swift response sir. Thank you so immensely for your understanding sir.

    Signed

    AFIJIO Descendant Union.
