Makinde is a “Talk and Do” Leader, Hon Olorunpoto Hails Governor Seyi Makinde For Reopening Schools Shut For Ten Years
The lawmaker representing Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Rahaman Olorunpoto has lauded Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde and the state government for reopening schools that were shut a decade ago.
Recall that on Thursday, the state government ordered the reopening of 23 schools in Atiba, Afijio, Oyo East and Oyo West local government areas of the state.
The government enjoined members of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing the affected constituencies to work with community leaders to ensure that children go back to school.
Hon Rahaman who was part of the stakeholders meeting while speaking with newsmen on Friday lauded the approach adopted by the Governor Seyi Makinde led government which resolved the age long matter amicably.
According to him, the position of the Oyo State government on the matter will not only help in curtailing the menace of out of school children but way of saving basic school education from total collapse.
Hon Olorunpoto who gave a brief account of the role he played at ensuring that the matter was resolved stated that amongst several other efforts which includes various levels of engagements towards arriving at a consensus on the reopening of the schools, he met with His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde in December, 2023 at breakfast meeting with the lawmakers and presented the matter before him and that the Governor promised that steps would be taken to ensure that the schools were reopened.
He said Governor Makinde is a “Talk and Do Governor”.
The lawmaker equally commended Oyo Global Forum for championing the reopening of schools in Oyo East and Oyo West noting that their agigations yielded positive result.
Recall Hon Olorunpoto was the immediate past Chairman of Oyo Global Forum before he stepped aside to seek political office in 2023.
