JUST IN: Makinde Presents 28 Buses to Tertiary Institutions, Students Body
In a groundbreaking move, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, has fulfilled his promise by presenting 28 brand new eighteen-seater buses to students of tertiary institutions across campuses and student bodies in Oyo State.
The donation of these buses marks a significant milestone in the governor’s commitment to improving transportation and access to education for students in the state.
This initiative comes as a fulfillment of Governor Makinde’s promise made during the campaign period to provide buses for students.
Hon. Victor Olojede, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, commended Governor Makinde for this remarkable achievement, describing it as unprecedented in the history of Nigeria.
He emphasized that no governor has ever undertaken such a massive gesture of donating 28 buses to tertiary institutions and student bodies simultaneously.
Olojede also appealed to the governor to address other pressing issues affecting students, such as bursary payments, urging prompt attention to ensure the welfare and academic success of students across the state. He expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for his prompt payment of bursary to law students in the state, setting a precedent for good governance and student support.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, and was attended by dignitaries including the Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal; the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Fola Oyekunle; the Secretary to the State Government, and other government functionaries.
Also present were the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development.
Others are Engr Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem Mogaji Adanla, Mogaji Abass Oloko, Mogaji Ademola Oladosu.
