The Oyo State Government is desirous to find a lasting solution to the lingering power problem to its installations across the state. With the problem of power solved, the issue of epileptic water supply to the residents of Oyo State is half solved.

This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of Oyo State Water Corporation, Hon. Elias Adeojo during a meeting with the representatives of IBEDC, Engr. Ismaila Nuhu, the Regional Technical Manager, Oyo Region and Mr. Donald Olu, the Regional Key Accounting Manager, Oyo Region on Thursday in his office.

The meeting was facilitated after an initial crucial meeting of the Executive Chairman of the Corporation with the Managing Director of IBEDC, Engr. Kingsley Achife. Hon Adeojo enthused that he was happy with the response of the power holding company for the call put through to the Corporation.

He emphasized that the Corporation is working round the clock to deliver on the mandate of Oyo State government under the able leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Omituntun 2.0 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals to provide potable water to the people of the State in no distant time. He added that resuscitation of power supply to Asejire Water supply Scheme is germane in as much as its used to provide potable water to 80 percent of Ibadan metropolis and its environs.

In his own remark, Engr. Nuhu stressed that IBEDC is ready to collaborate with the Corporation to improve on its operational capacity to its Installations across the state. He added that the powerline supplying the scheme would need to be resuscitated since it had been down for some time.

The meeting resolved to adhere to terms of reference which is to continue to work together to establish a common goal as well as to ascertain the level of damages on power line from Monatan to Asejire.

Engr. Nuhu therefore promised that after all the necessary installations needed have been provided and installed, power would be restored to Asejire as soon as possible.

The IBEDC Oyo Region Manager then implored the Corporation to do its part of the bargaining by paying its bills regularly to continue to enjoy uninterrupted power supply and forge amicable working relationship.

A team of engineers from WCOS and IBEDC has since moved to site to Kickstart the repair on the powerline.
