LG Poll: ‘Eschew thuggery, electoral violence, Ibarapakan tells candidates,’ voters
Member House of Representatives representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has enjoined voters and candidates of various political parties, including key stakeholders that will be participating in tomorrow’s Oyo local election in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Areas of Oyo State, to shun politics of violence.
According to the lawmaker on Friday, April 26, 2024, democracy only thrives in an atmosphere where there is peace and people’s ability to freely exercise their right to vote and be voted for.
Ibarapakan said His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde’s democratic leadership is unparalleled, urging the people of the state to share his vision for a brighter future.
“Beyond this election, we must all remember that we have a community to protect. The hallmark of any form of democratic government is choice and the ability for people to elect those who represent them freely.
“As we prepare for one of the most anticipated local elections in Oyo State tomorrow, I urge us all to shun any form of violence and allow due process to take its course.
“Every candidate in this election is our community person; we may have our political differences, but our goal must gear towards seeing a better and more prosperous region, and this is why no stone must be left unturned to ensure that this election is free, fair and credible.
“I enjoin everyone in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North to maintain law and order during and after this election,” Ibarapakan said.
Addressing the constituents, Ibarapakan declared his total support for all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North, adding that the PDP is the party to beat, and that the activities leading to the local election have shown that the party remains the most popular in Oyo State.
