In his words, “I have been on a personal assessment trip to the Ibadan, and Oke Ogun Zones. Whilst in Ipapo, my hometown in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, I held consultations with political leaders from all 10 Local Governments in the Zone.
I further paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty the Eleyinpo of Ipapo Land Oba Yekeen Abioye who prayed for peaceful conduct, ahead of the elections.
It was deeply heart warming to see the political parties campaign peacefully devoid of rancour. Ibadan metropolis was also very peaceful and seeing individuals bounce back to their normal business in the evening was great.
Whilst on a personal assessment trip, convoys of security operatives could be seen conducting personnel and materials in the city. Further, the town was quiet as citizens observed the no-movement directive.
“Our democracy is gaining some level of maturity and this is to be encouraged. The days of violence as the first order of electoral activities should be confined to the dark pages of our history and never to be flipped on again.”
