About hundred indigent students from communities in Iseyin, Ado-Awaye and Ibarapa areas took part in the maiden screening test to qualify for the Psaltry Foundation’s Scholarship programme which held on Saturday at Iseyin District Grammar School (IDGS) main hall at Iseyin.

The exercise was planned to pick among the participants, those that merited the opportunity, base on their financially-vulnerable background and academically brilliant.

While speaking with reporters, the former Chairman of Iseyin local government, who is also the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Alhaji Saheed Alaran who was present at the event to monitor the exercise, saluted the cooperation of the participants, saying the exercise was flawless.

“We started the exercise as planned by ten in the morning and we are extremely happy that we had a good number of applicants, who also conducted themselves very well during and after the screening process.

“Their questions will be marked immediately after the students have left and they will be reached through their contacts we collected, to intimate them of their performances and status of qualification.”

He however appreciated the members of the committee who he said had put in sleepless nights to prepare for the day and also gave collective efforts for the success of the maiden exercise.

Alaran said the screening exercise to pick successful students for scholarship into higher institutions of learning will be held annually.
