Ibadan Southeast Emerged Winners of CCII Inter LGs Quiz, Spelling Bee Competitions
Ibadan South East Local Government Primary and Secondary Schools had emerged winners of the Inter-Local Government Schools Quiz and Spelling Bee Competitions.
The competition, organised by Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) was part of programmes for 2024 Ibadan Cultural Festival.
Speaking at the Programme, the President General for CCII, Barrister ‘Niyi Ajewole said the competition was geared towards promoting reading culture among students in the state.
Barr. Ajewole lamented on the declining interest in reading, particularly among Primary and Secondary Schools Students and so, called on the Stakeholders to urgently address the issue by initiating programmes that would inculcate reading habit in children from tender age.
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode who received the good news with utmost joy commended the students for displaying high level of intellectual capacity at the competition.
Arole Omituntun ascribed the feat to the teachers, parents, Ibadan South East Local Government as well as the Oyo State Government for their commitment to quality Education.
Hon. Alawode then charged the students to develop themselves so as to remain competitive and relevant.
The Chairman for house Committee on Education at Ibadan South East Local Government Legislative arm, who represented the Council Chairman at the occasion, Hon Ibraheem Badmus said the programme would help in instilling passion for reading in the students.
While appreciating the CCII for organising such an inspirational programme, the Director of Education and Social Services for Ibadan South East Local Government, Alhaja Kudirat Olusola Nojimdeen applauded the students for standing tall among their peers. She then enjoined them to study well by reading because it is a path that can make them intelligent, give them freedom and access to success in life.
With the Director of Education and Social Services at the programme were the Head of Community Development and Women affairs Unit, Mrs Egunlusi Modupe and Head of Unit on Education, Mrs Osuntade to mention but few.
