Oyo Housing Corporation Chair, Omotosho Threatens to Withdraw Licenses of Clubs, Lounges in Bodoja If…

The Chairman of Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Ademola Omotoso, has threatened to withdraw the operational licenses of clubs or lounges that fail to comply with the resolution of a meeting held with their owners alongside Bodija Estate Residents Association (BERA) on Tuesday at the corporation’s headquarters regarding noise pollution and other issues within Bodija Estate.

Omotoso stated that club owners should know they are not above the law, as the Corporation has rules binding all residents in its estates. He warned that anyone who flouts the law will be dealt with accordingly by revocation of their operating licenses.

The Housing Corporation Boss expressed concern about how some lounge owners continue to disregard the agreement reached at a meeting held on July 16, 2024, involving the Corporation, Bodija Estate Resident Association Executive, and the club owners.

The agreed noise level was set at 45 decibels, but the lounge owners are still not complying.

Omotoso said this defiant behaviour will not be tolerated, and on his next inspection of clubs and lounges within Old and New Bodija Estates, the penalty will be the closure of such club for 14 days for first offenders or revocation of their operating licenses

He emphasised that the activities of clubs and lounges should remain within the club premises and should not affect the health of other residents in the estate.

The Chairman urged all clubs within the estate to abide by the agreement to avoid closure or revocation of their allocation.

Meanwhile, as part of efforts to ensure that a peaceful environment is achieved, clubs and lounges’ owners have unanimously elected Mr Taiwo Salami to head the taskforce set up to enforce total compliance of members and discipline any club or lounge that flouts the resolutions adopted by all parties involved in the agreement.
