The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode has been commended for the installation of solar-powered street lights in the local government area.

The street lights have been placed in key areas to deter criminal activities which often thrives in darkness in the community.

Commending the Local Government Chairman for the initiative, a prominent indigene of the council area, Mr Theophilus Oloyede said the project is a source of joy as his people could now enjoy the social amenities in the community.

Mr Oloyede stressed that the installation is a timely intervention that will increase security and aid movement at night.

The CDC Chairman in Ibadan South East Local Government, Alhaji Fatai Oloyede and one other community member, Engr Daniel Oluwa both appreciated Hon. Alawode for the project, noting that the solar street lights will promote security across the council as well as the business activities of the community. Alhaji Oloyede then assured that the community will jealously protect the facilities.

Speaking at the symbolic presentation, which was done during the monthly security meeting of the council, Hon. Alawode said the light up project was initiated to enhance the beauty of the local council area and also as part of measures to combat insecurity by illuminating the community.

By so doing, the council boss explained that criminal elements would not be able to hide under the cover of darkness to perpetrate their nefarious activities.

Present at the programme were the security operatives, community leaders, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Tesilim Ogundeji, the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr Agnes Olakunbi Ojo, Acting HLGA, Dr. Folasade Olanrewaju, the Director of Administration and General services, Alhaja Tawakalitu Olufunke Adedotun and others.
