    Alaawe of Aweland Mourns Victims of Ibadan Tragedy, Commends Gov. Seyi Makinde

    The Alaawe of Awe Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Cornelius Abiola Taiwo Oladokun, FCA has expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the families of the victims of the Ibadan Children’s Funfair tragedy which occurred on Wednesday 18 December, 2024.

    In a statement, the monarch described the incident as “heart-wrenching” and “unfortunate,” saying it has left the entire community in a state of shock and grief.


    The Alaawe, however, commended the swift response of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to the tragedy, describing it as “timely and commendable.”

    “We are deeply saddened by the loss of young lives in this unfortunate incident,” the monarch said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

    The Alaawe urged the state government to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to prevent future occurrences.

    He also called on the government to provide necessary support and assistance to the affected families.

    The monarch prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident.
