Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has stated that event organizers should always request for necessary approvals from the government before they hold events involving crowds.

The Governor stated this in his media chat held on Saturday morning.

“I can come to your office socially. If you need to meet the government about a particular event, there is a process. But did they follow that process?

” Even the principal of Islamic High School is in custody at this time, what did he do? Because I know there is a process for that school to be used for any event. You write, get to the Ministry to get approval. And if the government is even in the know, let us say, for instance, they visited the Ministry for Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, what did they discuss with her?

“Did they ask for any approval for this event? I can tell you categorically that the answer is no.

“Forget about the government side. Did they inform any of the security agencies?

“This type of event is taking place in Ayefele Music House right now. I have been there several times, about this period.

” You will see children, they go out there and do their things. So, if you know the magnitude of the things that you are supposed to do, then, you should request for appropriate approvals.”
