Former aides of ex President Goodluck Jonathan have expressed their heartfelt congratulations following his recent appointment as U.N. Global Crisis Envoy by the United States, France, the United Kingdom, China, Russia, and the United Nations.

The historic appointment marked Jonathan as the first African former President to assume the significant role.

In a statement, Jude Imague, MON, former Senior Special Assistant on Youth and Students Affairs, praised Jonathan’s leadership, saying, “This appointment is a testament to his exceptional leadership and diplomatic finesse.

“His commitment to global peace and development has been unwavering throughout his career.”

Kunle Yusuff, MON, former Special Assistant on Social Development on his part, echoed these sentiments, adding, “We had the privilege of working alongside President Jonathan, witnessing his dedication to promoting peace and stability.

“His new role is a fitting recognition of his expertise and influence on the global stage.”

The former aides emphasised the importance of Jonathan’s appointment during a critical time in global affairs.

“This moment is marked by pressing challenges to trust, stability, coordination, and partnership. We are confident that President Jonathan will leverage this platform to drive meaningful change, particularly in Nigeria and across Africa,” Imague noted.

Reflecting on Jonathan’s journey, Yusuff remarked, “From lecturer to President, and now U.N. Global Crisis Envoy, his path is remarkable. His leadership and diplomatic skills will be invaluable assets in this role.”

Both former aides expressed gratitude for Jonathan’s mentorship and vision, stressing that, “His pragmatic administrative approach has effectively institutionalised peace and humility. We are thankful for his guidance and wish him well in this new chapter.”
