COVID-19: 10 Persons Linked With Lagos Governor’s House Test Positive
The Lagos State Government says 10 persons “associated ” with the State House in Marina , have tested positive for coronavirus .
State Health Commissioner, Prof Akin Abayomi , made this disclosure on Thursday afternoon via Twitter .
He , however , did not give any detail about the identity of the infected persons but stressed that Governor Babajide Sanwo- Olu and his wife , Joke Sanwo- Olu tested negative for the virus .
He said , “I am glad to announce that COVID- 19 Incident Commander Governor of Lagos State , Babajide Sanwo- Olu , and the First Lady , Joke Sanwoolu have consistently tested negative for COVID- 19 following three consecutive tests conducted on them recently .
“ However , 10 persons associated with Lagos State House in Marina have tested positive to COVID- 19 . ”
The government has consistently held briefings on COVID- 19 management in Lagos at the State House in Marina.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control as of the time of filing this report , 1 , 308 coronavirus infections with 358 recoveries and 30 fatalities have been reported so far in the state .
Lagos entered a new phase on Monday , May 4 , with the end of the five- week- old lockdown ordered by the President , Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd . ) as part of measures to curb the spread of the novel virus in the nation’ s economic capital .
“ I , therefore , implore you all to continue to embrace the # MaskUpLagos initiative and observe all precautionary measures such as physical distancing , hand washing , and other personal hygiene . All directives on easing lockdown in Lagos State remain in force . It is our collective responsibility to do all we can to stop the spread of COVID- 19 , ” the commissioner added .
