The federal lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN), on Thursday swore in a Secretary, three Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), and forty-five Special Assistants (SAs) at the Ibadan North Local Government Secretariat.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, include Senior Special Assistants on Media and Publicity, Political Matters, and New Media, as well as a Secretary to coordinate administrative activities of the office. The move was described as a strategic step aimed at deepening inclusive governance and strengthening grassroots political engagement within the constituency.

Speaking at the inauguration, the lawmaker representing Ibadan North State Constituency I, Hon. Comforter Olajide, described the development as commendable, noting that Hon. Oyekunle has once again proven worthy of the confidence reposed in him.

She applauded the federal lawmaker for his inclusive leadership style and encouraged the appointees to regard their roles as both a privilege and a responsibility to serve diligently.

The ceremony attracted party leaders, stakeholders, elders, and supporters from across the twelve wards in Ibadan North, with several goodwill messages delivered by prominent political figures.

In his address, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle stated that the appointments were in line with the governing philosophy of Governor Seyi Makinde, particularly the principles of inclusivity and reward for loyalty and hard work. He charged the appointees to remain committed to service and to project the image of the government positively at all times.

In a development described as unprecedented, the federal lawmaker announced that despite the inauguration taking place on Thursday, all the newly appointed aides would receive their first salaries the following day, Friday, January 30, 2026, covering the month of January.

The announcement was greeted with applause from attendees at the event.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, described the inauguration as a clear demonstration of the rewards of dedication and loyalty within the party.

He emphasized that the appointees now bear the responsibility of projecting the achievements of the government and ensuring sustained public confidence, noting that their performance would be critical to the party’s electoral success in 2027.

Former council chairman and Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Demola Omotosho, urged the appointees to make judicious use of the opportunity, describing their roles as a chance to gain firsthand experience in governance and leadership. He encouraged them to discharge their duties with integrity and diligence.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Agency, Hon. Prince Falana Adebowale, said the appointments once again affirm that young people are capable of handling positions of responsibility.

He stressed that continuity in governance depends on how well the appointees represent the purpose of their appointments across their respective zones.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Toyin Balogun, administered the oath of office to the appointees, urging them to serve as worthy ambassadors of the present administration and to uphold the principles of accountability and good governance.

Speaking on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Ibadan North, Hon. Mustapha commended the federal lawmaker for recognising the contributions of party members. He stated that the PDP has a strong track record of delivering good governance and assured that the party would continue to deliver at all levels.

The event was attended by political appointees, party leaders from the twelve wards, stakeholders, and community elders.
