In a strategic and awareness-driven effort to curb cultism in secondary schools across Egbeda Local Government, the administration of Hon. Sikiru Sanda, through Operation Campus Storm (O.C.S.), organized a comprehensive anti-cultism campaign.

Addressing students during the outreach programme, Hon. Sanda emphasized that cultism is never an option and urged young people to distance themselves from any group or activity that could jeopardize their future.

He encouraged students to resist negative peer pressure, remain committed to their education, and strive to become responsible members of society.

“There is nothing beneficial about joining a cult; it destroys ambition and derails destinies. Stay away from bad influences and friendships that could lead you down a destructive path,” he cautioned.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to educational development, the council chairman highlighted several ongoing interventions, including the provision of free WAEC and JAMB registration forms for selected outstanding indigent students across secondary schools.

He also noted the distribution of 70,000 writing materials to pupils in primary schools within Egbeda Local Government.

He further disclosed that the free WAEC and JAMB initiative would continue this year, with beneficiaries already selected. Students who participated in the anti-cultism campaign also received free writing materials.

In her remarks, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Mrs. Ayo Alaga, commended Hon. Sanda for the initiative and encouraged students to shun cultism, make their parents proud, and remain dedicated to their academic pursuits.

The guest lecturer, Prof. Olufemi Michael, advised students to resist peer pressure and focus on their education and personal development.

He also urged teachers and parents to collaborate in fostering a supportive and disciplined learning environment. According to him, eradicating cultism requires collective effort from students, parents, schools, communities, and government authorities.

He encouraged young people to embrace integrity, hard work, and peaceful coexistence.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Mr. Tanimowo Olabode Ayoola expressed appreciation to the chairman for organizing the campaign, describing it as timely and impactful in addressing cultism across schools in the council area.

Participating schools included Urban Day Grammar School Junior 1, Olaogun; Urban Day Grammar School Junior 2; Community High School, Alarere; Community Secondary School, Ogungbade; Community Secondary School, Adegbayi; Community High School, Egbeda; Community High School, Kumapayi; and Community Secondary School, Kumapayi, Olodo.

Also in attendance were Alhaji Hammed, Director of Finance and Supplies; Engr. Ayoade Clement, Director of Works; Mr. Adepoju, Director of Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Mrs. Ilugbaro Bosede Kehinde, Director of Education and Social Services.
