A major breakthrough has emerged within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, as 23 key leaders have unanimously agreed on a consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Goalpoacher News Uncovered that the decision was reached during a closed-door meeting held late Wednesday night, which reportedly began around 10 p.m. and brought together influential stakeholders from both Egbeda and Ona Ara Local Government Areas.
Sources at the meeting disclosed that, after extensive deliberations, the leaders settled on a widely accepted and popular aspirant, whose name is to be officially announced at a later date.
Prominent figures present at the meeting included Elder Wole Oyelese, Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Chief Waheed Adurodekun, and Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi, among other party leaders.
The development marks a significant shift from earlier reports of disagreement among stakeholders, which had suggested difficulties in harmonising interests and producing a unified candidate.
Party insiders say the consensus move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen unity within the PDP in the constituency and position the party for a stronger election outing.
With this agreement, attention is now focused on the formal unveiling of the candidate, as party members and observers await further details on the outcome of the high-level consultation.
Goalpoacher News is closely monitoring the development as it unfolds. More details will be provided in due course.
