In a significant step to strengthen indigenous financial research and literacy in Nigeria, MFP Global Services has inaugurated its Research and Development Committee.
The committee was officially inaugurated on Sunday, May 10, 2026, by the President of MFP Global Services, Prince Oyebade Oyedepo, FCA, JP.
Prince Oyedepo highlighted a critical gap in local financial research, which has resulted in heavy government reliance on data from international organisations for policy-making. He described this dependence as detrimental to the economy, stressing that Nigeria needs home-grown data and insights to address its unique challenges.

He also expressed concern over the long-standing decline in students’ interest in commercial subjects at the secondary school level. According to him, this trend will have far-reaching multiplier effects on national development, as “no nation can develop beyond the financial knowledge of its citizens.”

The President charged members of the committee to approach their mandate with full commitment and deliver tangible, high-impact results.

In his response, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Jeremiah Adetunji, FCA, ACTI, assured the President and other MFP Global Services members that the committee would produce comprehensive and insightful research on topical financial issues. He explained that the committee would draw on both primary and secondary sources of data and deploy modern analytical tools to ensure verifiable and actionable conclusions and recommendations.
The committee’s membership is drawn from both academia and professional practice to promote cross-fertilisation of ideas. The committee comprises the following members:
