    Hon Sanda Convenes Security Summit to Strengthen Community Safety Against Kidnapping, Banditry and Other Vices

    The Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting lawful initiatives aimed at strengthening security and sustaining a peaceful environment conducive to economic and social development.

    ‎Sanda stated this during a town hall security stakeholders’ meeting held at the SDP Building, WEMA Bank area, Ibadan, where community leaders, security agencies and other stakeholders gathered to deliberate on measures to enhance safety and security within the local government and Oyo State at large.
    ‎
    ‎According to the chairman, the summit was convened in response to growing security concerns across various communities, with a view to developing innovative, proactive and community-driven approaches to security management.
    ‎
    ‎He noted that challenges such as kidnapping, banditry, farmer-herder conflicts and other criminal activities require collective action and sustained collaboration among government, security agencies and residents.
    ‎
    ‎“As leaders and stakeholders, we cannot fold our arms while criminal elements threaten the peace and prosperity of our communities,” he said.
    ‎
    ‎The council boss stressed the importance of strengthening existing security structures and promoting effective cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure the continued safety of lives and property.

    ‎At the security summit, the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Commandant of the Police Training School, Eleyele, DCP Sulaimon Ishola, who attended as the guest security expert, delivered a lecture on strategies for improving and strengthening security across communities.

    ‎He highlighted the importance of intelligence gathering, community vigilance and partnership between residents and security agencies in addressing security challenges and maintaining public safety.

    ‎The summit attracted several notable personalities, including Dr. Wole Oyelese, Pastor Akinade Alamu, Rt. Hon. Busari Olayemi, Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola, the Vice Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Oladeebo (Simple), and the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Olusola Olakanmi.

    ‎Also in attendance were traditional rulers, community and religious leaders, representatives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), pensioners, farmers, herders, members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Amotekun Corps, local hunters, market leaders, transport unions, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and other security agencies.

    ‎Participants at the summit emphasized the need for sustained collaboration, information sharing and community participation in efforts to maintain peace, security and development across Egbeda Local Government and beyond.
