The Okanlomo Odua and Bada Olubadan, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, has called on residents of Oyo State to remain hopeful and united despite past political disappointments, declaring that the build-up to the 2027 elections should mark “a year of restoration” for the state.

In a message addressed to the people of the state, Sanusi urged supporters not to dwell on previous setbacks but to remain committed to the collective goal of building a stronger state and a more prosperous Nigeria.

Quoting Psalm 147:3, which states, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,” Okanlomo acknowledged the frustrations experienced by many loyal supporters who had devoted their time and efforts only to encounter disappointment.

“Many among us have known disappointment. Many have given their time, energy, and commitment only to feel let down. Some stood firm when it was difficult, believing that service and loyalty would lead to a better future,” he said.

He, however, encouraged residents not to lose faith, insisting that setbacks should not diminish their commitment to public service and development.

“Do not allow disappointment to destroy your hope. Do not allow past experiences to weaken your commitment to building a better Oyo State and a stronger Nigeria,” he stated.

Expressing confidence in the future, Okanlomo declared that 2027 would represent a fresh beginning for the people of the state.

“The God who heals broken hearts is also the God who restores lost opportunities. He is the God who turns tears into testimonies and struggles into victory. That is why I declare that 2027 shall be our year of restoration.“

“It will be a year to rebuild trust, strengthen unity, and work together for the progress of our people,” he said.

He stressed the need for unity above personal interests, urging political stakeholders and residents to place the welfare of Oyo State ahead of individual ambitions.

“Our strength has always been our unity. When we stand together, no obstacle is too great. When we speak with one voice, our future becomes brighter. Let us reject division, bitterness, and despair, and embrace peace, discipline, and collective progress,” he added.

He also appealed to various segments of society, including youths, women, elders, artisans, farmers, professionals and grassroots supporters, to work together in pursuit of sustainable development.

“I call on our youths, our women, our elders, our artisans, our farmers, our professionals, and every grassroots supporter: let us move forward with faith, determination, and love for our state,” he said.

Acknowledging that the journey ahead would require resilience and sacrifice, Okanlomo expressed optimism that better days lay ahead for the state.

“The journey ahead requires courage, patience, and sacrifice, but I believe that better days are coming. By the grace of God, our labour will not be in vain, our hope will not be disappointed, and our future will be brighter than our past,” he said.

He prayed for healing, peace, prosperity and responsible leadership for Oyo State, while expressing confidence that collective efforts would usher in a brighter future.

“Together, we shall move forward. Together, we shall be restored. May God bless Oyo State, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
