The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Abimbola Adekambi, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, commenced his statewide familiarisation tour in Ibarapa Land, where he charged party leaders and stakeholders to intensify efforts at mobilising eligible voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The thank you meeting, held at the Igbo-Ora Town Hall, brought together party stakeholders, leaders and supporters from Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North and Ibarapa East Local Government Areas of Oyo State.

Welcoming the governorship candidate, member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, commended Hon. Adekambi for choosing Ibarapa as the first stop of his statewide consultation.

The federal lawmaker noted that Governor Seyi Makinde also began the political engagements that culminated in his victories during the Omituntun 1.0 and Omituntun 2.0 campaigns in Ibarapa Land, expressing confidence that the decision to commence the tour in the area was a positive sign.

According to him, every successful political movement associated with the governor had its roots in Ibarapa, adding that the people of the zone remained steadfast in their support for Makinde’s administration.

Ibarapakan assured Governor Makinde and the APM governorship candidate that the party would record the desired electoral success in Ibarapa, stressing that there would be no need for an extensive campaign in the area because of the people’s continued support to anything that concerns the Executive Governor of Oyo State.

He also appreciated party stakeholders for their loyalty and commitment to the Makinde administration, describing Adekambi as the best candidate to consolidate on the achievements of the current government and sustain its developmental agenda beyond 2027.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. (Chief) Ademola Obafemi Ojo, expressed confidence in the party’s strength across Ibarapa, assuring the governorship candidate that all seven communities in the zone would once again deliver overwhelming support for the APM.

Hon. Ojo, however, appealed to the government not to neglect Ibarapa in the distribution of developmental projects and dividends of democracy, noting that the people of the area had consistently demonstrated loyalty and deserved continued government attention.

Addressing the gathering, the APM governorship candidate in Oyo State, Hon. Adekambi pledged not to disappoint party members and the people of Oyo State if entrusted with the mandate to govern the state.

Speaking on infrastructure development, the governorship candidate assured residents that work had fully resumed on the Ido–Eruwa Road project, explaining that the temporary pause in construction was a deliberate decision by the state government to ensure that the road is built to the highest standard.

According to him, Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration remains committed to delivering durable infrastructure across the state, adding that the contractor handling the project has the capacity to deliver a quality road that will stand the test of time.

The governorship candidate stated that Governor Makinde had laid a solid foundation of good governance and infrastructural development, assuring party members and residents that he would build on that foundation and consolidate the achievements of the current administration if elected governor.

The governorship candidate also presented what he described as intelligence data obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission, revealing that only about 14.29 per cent of registered voters had participated in elections across many local government areas in the state in recent electoral cycles.

He urged party leaders and supporters to embark on aggressive voter mobilisation, targeting eligible voters who had consistently stayed away from the polls, saying increased participation would guarantee a landslide victory for the APM in the 2027 governorship election.

Hon. Abimbola called on party stakeholders across Ibarapa Land to remain united and work harmoniously for the success of all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections, stressing that unity, discipline and grassroots mobilisation would be crucial to the party’s victory.

In her closing remarks, former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former Commissioner, Hon. (Mrs.) Funmilayo Orisaseyi, offered prayers for the success of the party, expressing optimism that the APM would record victories beginning with the forthcoming local government election later this year and extending to the general elections next year.

The meeting was attended by party executives, ward leaders, women and youth leaders, as well as other stakeholders, who reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APM’s structures across Ibarapa Land and delivering victory for the party in the forthcoming elections.
