The Member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DoN), has paid a moving tribute to his predecessor, the late Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban), on the second anniversary of his passing, describing him as an exemplary legislator, a compassionate leader, and a patriot whose legacy of service continues to inspire hope across Ibadan North.

In a statement made available to journalists through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Akinwale Bodija, Hon. Oyekunle said the late Jagaban devoted his life to the service of God, humanity, and the people of Ibadan North, leaving behind footprints of integrity, humility, and impactful representation that time can never erase.

He noted that although Hon. Akinremi’s earthly journey ended two years ago, his remarkable contributions to the constituency remain evident in the lives he touched, the opportunities he created, and the confidence he restored in representative governance.

According to the federal lawmaker, Jagaban distinguished himself through accessible leadership, unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents, youth empowerment, educational support, community development, and his determination to ensure that the voices of Ibadan North resonated on the floor of the House of Representatives.

“Today, we do not merely remember the passing of a distinguished leader; we celebrate a life that was genuinely committed to the service of others. Hon. Musiliu Olaide Akinremi, fondly called Jagaban, lived a life of purpose and left behind a legacy that continues to command respect and admiration.

“His tenure as the representative of Ibadan North was defined by dedication, compassion, and an uncommon desire to improve the lives of ordinary people. He believed that leadership was a sacred trust and consistently demonstrated that public office should be used to uplift the vulnerable, empower the youth, support education, and advance the collective aspirations of the people.

“His transition created a painful vacuum, but his good works remain alive in the hearts of those who benefited from his kindness and in the enduring memories of our constituents. The true measure of a man is not how long he lived, but how deeply he impacted humanity. By that measure, Jagaban lived an exceptional life.

“As one privileged by the people to continue the noble responsibility of representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, I remain inspired by the ideals of selfless service, commitment, and people-centred leadership which he exemplified. His life serves as a constant reminder that leadership must always be driven by compassion, accountability, and genuine love for the people.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency, I remember our departed leader with profound respect and gratitude. I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, enlarges and illuminates his grave, and grants him the highest place in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.”

Hon. Oyekunle further urged residents of Ibadan North to preserve the values that the late lawmaker stood for by embracing unity, peaceful coexistence, and collective commitment to the continued development of the constituency.

He added that the greatest tribute to the memory of Hon. Musiliu Akinremi Jagaban is not only in words but in sustaining the vision of inclusive development, quality representation, and unwavering service to the people.

“Though he is no longer with us physically, his legacy endures, his sacrifices remain appreciated, and his name will continue to occupy a special place in the history of Ibadan North. May his gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace.”
