The Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Development Agency, Prince Falana Adebowale, has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde on the release of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of the state, describing their freedom as a major relief for their families and the people of Oyo State.
The release of the victims, who were abducted during an attack on schools in Ahoro-Esinle community, was announced on Friday.
Reacting to the development in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, Adebowale commended Governor Makinde for his resilience, determination and unwavering commitment to securing the safe return of the victims despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the abduction.
He said the governor demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout the period of the victims’ captivity by remaining focused on ensuring that every available effort was deployed to facilitate their release.
”I congratulate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, on the successful release of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government. This is a moment of great relief and thanksgiving for the entire state,” Adebowale said.
He added, “The governor’s resilience, dedication and commitment to the freedom of the victims deserve commendation. His administration never relented in pursuing every lawful means to ensure they returned safely to their families.”
The Youth Agency chairman also appreciated security agencies and all stakeholders whose collaborative efforts contributed to the release of the victims, noting that the development underscored the importance of sustained cooperation in addressing security challenges.
According to him, the safe return of the abductees should further strengthen the resolve of governments at all levels to prioritise the protection of schools and communities against criminal attacks.
Adebowale urged residents of Oyo State to remain vigilant, continue supporting security agencies with credible information and maintain confidence in the government’s efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.
He prayed for the speedy recovery of the released pupils and teachers from the trauma of their ordeal and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting peace, youth development and a safer environment for all residents of Oyo State.
