…Donates 20 Laptops to 3rd Oyo Youth Parliament, Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Leadership
The member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Stanley Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, has donated 20 laptop computers to members of the recently inaugurated 3rd Oyo Youth Parliament Assembly.
The presentation was made on Wednesday when the youth parliamentarians paid a courtesy visit to the federal lawmaker at his residence in Ibadan.
The gesture, according to Odidiomo, is aimed at strengthening the capacity of the youth legislators, enhancing their legislative engagements and equipping them with the digital tools required to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Addressing the lawmakers, Odidiomo commended members of the Youth Parliament for their commitment to leadership, democratic participation and sustainable development, describing the Assembly as a vital platform for grooming the next generation of public office holders.
He noted that the Oyo Youth Parliament serves as a replica of the State and National Assemblies, providing young people with practical legislative experience while creating opportunities for them to contribute meaningful ideas to governance and public policy.
The lawmaker urged the youth parliamentarians to embrace technology, innovation and continuous learning, stressing that digital literacy has become indispensable in today’s world.
According to him, young people must channel their energy into productive ventures and acquire relevant technological skills that will prepare them for leadership and global competitiveness, rather than engaging in social vices such as drug abuse, cultism and violence.
Odidiomo also announced that members of the Youth Parliament have been invited to the commissioning of his Digital ICT Hub located in Anfani, Ibadan. He explained that the centre would provide training for youths in high-demand digital skills, including Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, UI/UX Design, Software Applications and other Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-related programmes.
He encouraged the parliamentarians to remain focused, resilient and committed to excellence, reminding them that success is determined by hard work, discipline and consistency rather than background or status.
The federal lawmaker further commended the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Hon. Adebowale Adebayo Falana (Prince), for his unwavering commitment to youth development and mobilisation across the state.
He described Falana as a dedicated and visionary young leader whose passion for empowering youths has continued to inspire positive change, urging members of the Youth Parliament to emulate his leadership qualities and spirit of service.
Speaking on behalf of the Assembly, the Speaker of the 3rd Oyo Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Oyekola Marvelous, expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Odidiomo for the generous donation, describing it as a significant investment in youth leadership and legislative development.
He said the laptops would greatly enhance the effectiveness of the Assembly’s legislative activities, research and policy engagements, while reaffirming the commitment of members to promoting good governance and serving as credible voices for young people in Oyo State.
The Speaker also appreciated the continuous support of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development towards the success of the Youth Parliament and invited stakeholders to attend the Assembly’s inaugural plenary sitting to witness the capacity, vision and legislative potential of the newly inaugurated parliamentarians.
