Chief (Engr.) Dr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Okanlomo Oódua and Gbonka Olubadan of Ibadanland, has congratulated the management, teachers, students and parents of ICAST Schools Ltd on the school’s impressive performance in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to the school’s 2026 performance analysis, ICAST recorded 543 passes out of 564 subject entries, representing an overall subject-pass rate of 96.28%.

The school also recorded a 100% pass rate in 12 subjects, covering Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Government, Financial Accounting, Commerce, Further Mathematics, Literature-in-English, Geography, and Computer Hardware & GSM Repair.

The performance was particularly strong in the sciences, with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science recording 100% pass rates.

Mathematics recorded 98.44%, while English Language recorded 96.88%.

Dr. Sanusi described the result as “a result worthy of celebration,” but stressed that true excellence requires continuous improvement.

“True excellence celebrates success, identifies weaknesses and defeats them.”

He therefore challenged the management and teaching team to build upon the 2026 performance, particularly in areas where there is room for improvement.

He identified Yoruba, which recorded a 71.43% pass rate, and Civic Education, with 79.69%, as areas requiring particular attention, setting an ambitious target of 95% or above in both subjects in 2027.

According to him, the objective should not be to merely celebrate a good result, but to establish a culture in which every child is supported to reach his or her full potential.

    Education Beyond Certificates

Dr. Sanusi also drew attention to the school’s 100% performance in Computer Hardware & GSM Repair, describing it as a reflection of the growing importance of practical and technological education.

He said education must go beyond certificates and equip young Nigerians with knowledge, practical skills, technological confidence and the capacity to create value.

“The objective of education is not simply to produce students who pass examinations. The objective is to produce young people who can pass through life successfully.”

He said the future belongs to young people who combine knowledge with character, competence, creativity and the courage to solve problems.

    Commendation for Teachers and Parents

The Okanlomo Oódua commended the teachers of ICAST Schools, describing them as the “silent heroes” behind the achievement.

He noted that behind every successful student are teachers who prepare, encourage, correct and refuse to give up on the child.

He also appreciated parents and guardians for the sacrifices they make to provide their children with quality education.

“Every time parents choose to invest in their children’s education, they are investing in the future,” he said.

Dr. Sanusi urged the management of ICAST Schools not to rest on the achievement, but to invest further in teacher development, science laboratories, ICT and digital learning, libraries and research, student mentoring, career guidance, vocational education and stronger parental engagement.

He said the ultimate goal should be to create a school environment where every child is known, every weakness is identified, every talent is developed and every child is challenged to excel.

    “EXCELLENCE WITHOUT EXCUSES”

While celebrating the 2026 achievement, Dr. Sanusi challenged ICAST Schools to target 98%+ overall subject performance and ultimately establish a culture of what he described as:

    “EXCELLENCE WITHOUT EXCUSES.”

He congratulated the entire ICAST family and expressed confidence that the students would go on to become doctors, engineers, lawyers, entrepreneurs, scientists, technologists, academics, public servants and builders of Nigeria.

He concluded with a message to the students:

“May your knowledge become service. May your success become opportunity for others. May your character be greater than your certificates.”
