In a move aimed at rewarding dedication, boosting staff morale and making employees direct beneficiaries of the system they serve, the Oyo State Housing Corporation has taken a significant step by allocating plots of land to all members of its workforce.
The exercise, which took place on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Corporation in Ibadan, saw the presentation of Offers of Plots Allocation to all members of staff as part of efforts to motivate them and strengthen their commitment to the organisation.
Speaking during the exercise, the Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Ademola Omotoso, described the gesture as part of the present board’s commitment to encouraging staff to give their best and reassuring them that their contributions to the growth of the Corporation are recognised and appreciated.
Omotoso urged the workers to collectively move the Corporation forward, warning against acts capable of undermining its mission and vision of remaining a trailblazer in the housing sector.
“Since the inception of this present board, the internally generated revenue of the Corporation has increased tremendously, and this cannot be achieved without the input and commitment of our members of staff. I therefore urge all of you to work harder and remain committed to moving the Corporation forward,” Omotoso said.
“We want our members of staff to also be beneficiaries of the system they are working to build. This gesture is meant to encourage you to do more, while also reminding you that the board appreciates your contributions to the growth and development of the Corporation,” he added.
He noted that the Corporation had, since the inauguration of the present board, opened standard housing estates at Ajoda New Town and Owode through partnerships with viable and efficient private developers.
According to him, more than 150 structures have either been completed or are nearing completion at Omituntun 1 and 2 estates in Ajoda New Town.
He added that the foundation laying ceremony for another housing project comprising one and two-bedroom units would take place at Owode on October 13, with the project expected to be completed within six months at Owode and Ajoda New Town.
Omotoso also encouraged staff members with ideas capable of improving the Corporation to approach the board without fear or prejudice, assuring them that good ideas would be carefully considered and supported.
He disclosed that the board had instituted an Excellence Award to recognise outstanding staff members, adding that the award would be presented twice yearly, at mid-year and the end of the year.
The chairman also introduced two newly appointed board members, Hon. Adesanmi Ajao and Hon. Kola Akanmu, to the management and staff of the Corporation.
In his remarks, the President of the AUPCTRE, Oyo State Housing Corporation Chapter, appreciated the board and management for the gesture, urging workers to reciprocate by demonstrating greater dedication to their duties and shunning laxity.
