Speaking during the Special Jumat Service at the Central Mosque, Oja’ba Ibadan, Alhaji Agbotomokekere said, “while we welcome the entire Muslim Umah, our brothers and sisters back to the Mosque after several months of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Oyo State Government under Governor Oluseyi Makinde at tackling the pandemic that have claimed the lives of thousands of people around the world. It is our utmost prayer that Almighty Allah S.W.A puts a permanent end to the novel disease and restore sanity to our dear State, Country and the entire world.
We equally commiserate with the family, people and government of Oyo State over the demise of Former Governor Abiola Ajimobi who lost his life to complications relating to the Corona Virus Disease. May Almighty Allah grant him Aljanat Firdaus”.
The Chief Imam further applauded Governor Makinde for putting a round peg in a round hole by appointing a visionary, dedicated and highly spirited son of the soil in Mogaji (Dr.) Akin Fagbemi as Executive Chairman of a sensitive Government Organ as OYRTMA. He described the giant strides of OYRTMA in maintaining sanity on our roads and significantly zeroing down accident rates across the State as commendable and unprecedented achievements.
The Ibadan foremost Islamic cleric emphasized that “apart from the great job OYRTMA is presently doing in maintaining free flow of human and vehicular traffic across the length and breath of Ibadan metropolis, the timely intervention of men and officers of the Authority at arranging the parking of vehicles and ensuring orderliness of both men and women in the Mosque premises during the Jumat Prayers is worthy of commendation.
We pray for Allah’s Rahma on all the officers/men and divine guidance for our illustrious son, Governor Seyi Makinde as well as Mogaji Akin Fagbemi to continue with such good jobs”, he concluded.
You would recall that the Oyo State Government had recently lifted the complete ban on Mosque and Church gatherings in the State but limited such gatherings to only 25% capacity in order to ensure compliance to the Social Distancing guidelines aimed at curbing the continuous spread of the lethal Corona Virus Disease.
