Internal Crises May Spell Doom For Oyo APC in 2023– Party Chieftain
The political intrigues in the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter continued on Saturday when a chieftain of the party, Elder Femi Olaore asked that the State Working Committee of the party be dissolved or they resign to pave way for new Executives to come on board.
Elder Olaore stated this on Fresh FM while fielding questions on the leadership vacuum created by the demise of the former Governor, Abiola Ajimobi. He noted that the Chief Akin Oke led Executives had outlived it usefulness adding that if the State Executives hang on till 2022 when the party’s convention comes up, it would be difficult to defeat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party by the virtue of Governor Makinde’s populist policies.
Recall that in the last few weeks, the APC has been rocked by a leadership crisis which had aggravated and fragmented the party into different camps.
Judging from events in the last few weeks, it had become apparent that the battle for the soul of the party by the different camps may scuttle the chances of the party in 2023 general elections.
Some of the camps in the Oyo APC are;
APC Way forward stakeholders group,
APC Reformers group,
Unity Group,
Aspirants Forum,
New Era group
Chief Niyi Akintola group
Olasunkanmi Tegbe group
Chief Bayo Adelabu group and the PDP bloc which has the heavyweights like former Governor Alao Akala, Senators Teslim Folarin and Fatai Buhari, Hon Odebunmi, Hon Akin Alabi among others.
