The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Better Education Service Delivery for All, Hon Sunday Moses Adeyanju on Monday lauded the commitment and political will of Governor Seyi Makinde to repositioning the educational sector to the standard practice it deserves.

Hon Adeyanju stated this when he paid on the spot assessment to the Computer Base Test centre, University of Ibadan where applicants for the ongoing teachers recruitment exercise are writing their examination.

In his submission, the governor’s aide said,

“I want to appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment and political willingness to ensuring Oyo State education is revitalised by committing huge resources into the educational sector and giving it the needed attention it deserves.”

“This recruitment /selection exercise is a plus to addressing the menace of out of school children (OOSC) syndrome. In Oyo state, it is estimated that the figure of out of school children stands at about four hundred thousand (400,000) while 13.2m is the total number for out of school children in Nigeria, unfortunately the largest in the World.”

“I can assure parents and guardians that having more competent and dedicated teachers in our public schools will improve the sector, tremendously. This will also make education attractive to students, the numbers of drop out will reduce, students won’t lack teachers in all subjects as it used to be in the past. This new initiative by the Governor will definitely give education a facelift in the state.”

Speaking on the modalities adopted by TESCOM for the selection process, Hon Adeyanju commended Oyo State TESCOM for the good conduct of the examination so far.
“I will commend the TESCOM chairman, Pastor Akin Alamu, the Permanent Secretary, Grace Oderinde, Directors, other volunteers and the staffing (invigilators).”

“The security so far has been accurate, the atmosphere was conducive and encouraging to the job applicants.

The police, NSCDC and other security agents were proficiently on ground to contain any security threats or challenges that might arise”

“Also, there were two ambulances that were strategically stationed at the centre to address any issue of emergency. Pregnant female applicants on the queue were given preferential treatment as they gained easy access to the examination halls.

Interestingly, two female applicants were safely delivered of their babies while writing the exams, thanks to the medical team that were on ground. Hon Adeyanju concluded.
