Adeojo Was An Undisputed Political Icon, Abidikugu Mourns Passing Of Top PDP Leader

 

A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu has mourned the passing of a PDP Chieftain, Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, describing him as an undisputed political icon.

Abidikugu described late Alhaji Adeojo as a top grassroot politician and one of the pillars of the PDP in South West in particular and Nigeria in general.

Alhaji Yekini Adeojo died in the early hours of Friday.

Adeojo contested the gubernatorial election on the platform of PDP in 1999.

He hails from Ido local government area of Ibadan

Abidikugu described the deceased as a forthright, down to earth, consummate politician who always stood gallantly and unwaveringly by any cause he believed in, adding that he was a stabilising factor for PDP in Oyo State.

Abidikugu who was an House of Representatives aspirant in the build up to the 2023 general election extended his condolences to the PDP both at the national level and Oyo State as well as Adeojo family of Ibadan.

According to him, ” I mourn the passing of our leader and one of the founding fathers of the PDP. As a former South West deputy Chairman of the PDP and Oyo State gubernatorial candidate of the party in 1999, Alhaji Adeojo in conjunction with other leaders struggled to entrench PDP in Oyo State and the entire South West.

“His death is a great loss and we take solace in the fact that he lived a good life. We are also proud of his achievements and tenacity both as a politician and a Muslim.

“I extend my deepest condolences to his nuclear family, the family and the entire Oyo PDP and his friends, eternal rest grant him, O Lord”.
