Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has yet again hinted about his successor in 2027.
Makinde while speaking at the commissioning of feeder roads in Ibadan metropolis on Thursday said he has read various media promotions about some gubernatorial hopefuls who have indicated in succeeding him in 2027.
He however promised to focus on his succession plan by this time next year (2025).
His words:
“Well, let speak on those who are showing interest in succeeding me in 2027.
“I have read a lot about their activities but I’m not going to say anything now until this time next year.
“We just finished an election last year (2023), by this time next year, we’ll start another round of politics.”

1) Jubril Dotun Sanusi – he hasn’t declared for any political party but there are indications he would join the Peoples Democratic Party.
2) Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe
3) Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja
4) Hon Adedeji Olajide Stanley Odidiomo
5) Amofin Beulah Adeoye – like Jubril Dotun Sanusi, he hasn’t declared for any political party, but it’s 99% certain he is coming to the PDP.
6) Governor Seyi Makinde’s aide from Ogbomoso zone
There are two aides of Governor Seyi Makinde who are interested in succeeding him in 2027.
The two aspirants are from Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency .
There are strong indications from different quarters that the current Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran may indicate interest in the exalted position too. This is so because, many stalwarts in the party have been whispering his name, and nudging him to contest as the likely successor of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Other generous billionaire aspirants either from home or diaspora are expected to indicate interest as time goes by.
