Accord Storms Akinyele: Thousands Defect to Back Oriyomi Hamzat in 2027 Show of Political Might

The Accord Party in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State held a strategic general meeting yesterday, signaling a strengthened grassroots structure and firm commitment to its governorship candidate, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.

The meeting, held at Adjacent Oja Agbe, Old Oyo Road, Moniya, Ibadan, attracted party leaders, stakeholders, aspirants, support groups, defectors, and media personnel, reflecting the party’s growing influence and unity in the state.

In a statement issued by the party’s Acting Media and Publicity Secretary, Oladeji Ayomide Abraham (Barr Jonah), described the turnout as “a remarkable demonstration of confidence in the vision, leadership, and ideology of our party.”

He added, “The collective resolve of our members to work tirelessly for the emergence of our principal candidate, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, is clear for all to see. This is a historic step in consolidating Accord’s presence in Akinyele Local Government.”

Other key attendees included Hon. Tiamiyu Taiwo (Accord Oyo State Youth Leader), Hon. Adesiyan from Ido Local Government, Comrade Kehinde Olayiwola (General Secretary, Oriyomi Hamzat FAM), and leaders of the Islamic Care Foundation (ICF), the Oyo State Farmers Association, and Oriyomi Support Group (OSG).

The meeting also witnessed the formal induction of thousands of defectors from APGA, APC, PDP, AA, APP, and other political parties into Accord.

“We warmly welcome all new members and pledge to work together to achieve success in 2027,” said Hon. Sabitu, a party leader.

All aspirants for Akinyele State Constituency, including Hon. Adiat Musiliu Adeleye, Hon. Okeniyi Elijah Oluwasogo, Hon. Adebiyi Ademola, Hon. Yusuff Ayoade, Hon. Bello Ẹkúndayọ̀ Babafemi, Hon. Bukola Olatunbosun, and Hon. Abiola Yahaya, pledged their loyalty to the party and vowed to foster unity and cooperation.

Speaking at the event, Hon. (Alh) Mustapha Adegboyega Lateef condemned political thuggery, stating, “Accord will not condone any acts of hooliganism or violence. Such conduct could tarnish the dignity and integrity of our party and its principal candidate. We are committed to responsible, issue-based politics.”

In his remarks, Accord’s Acting Chairman, Hon. Femi Oladosu, expressed gratitude for the success of the meeting and urged members to maintain peace, deepen grassroots mobilization, and focus on building a people-centered political movement.

The party reaffirmed it readiness to provide credible leadership and present a progressive alternative for the people of Akinyele Local Government and Oyo State as the 2027 elections approach.
