A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr Azeez Adeduntan has encouraged the chief Akin Oke led State Working Committee of the party to step aside for the progress of the party in the Pace Setter state with the view to repositioning it ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The former Commissioner for Health and a governorship aspirant in 2019 stated this while fielding questions from GOALPOACHER NEWS correspondent on the leadership crisis among others rocking the party which have further led to the polarisation of the former ruling party.
Speaking on who the cap fits as the leader of the party, the Osi Bashorun of Ibadan land argues, “I am also a leader, the leader of the party will emerge naturally, any imposed leadership is a recipe for disaster.”
“Free, fair and credible elections are the remedies. No fraudulent or cash and carry primaries in APC. It is not stated in the constitution of the party that a particular group should lay claim to its ownership. APC is not Alliance for Democracy or Action Congress of Nigeria, it is a legacy party that was formed by ACN, CPC, ANPP, NEW PDP and a section of APGA.
Whoever states that SENACO and Lamist formed APC is a buffoon and political imbecile.”
Adeduntan concluded by saying the party needs a committee of leaders, not a single leader at this time. He advised any group or persons claiming to be core progressives to go back to go back to AD or ACN.
The cardiovascular surgeon reaffirmed his commitment to the party adding that he would be meeting the reconciliation committee on the 29th of August on how to reposition the party.
