AS OYO EMPLOYS TEACHING STAFF, INTELLECTUAL PLEADS FOR COMPETENT HANDS

The Director of Onaolad Educational Services, Oladipupo Olalekan (popularly known as INTELLECTUAL), has called upon the Oyo state government to ensure high level of competency in the recruitment of subject teachers into our classrooms.

“Yes, it has come to our notice that 36% is the peg point to choose the qualified among the non-teaching who wishes to be converted into teaching Service. Notwithstanding such an embarrassing point, having agreed that 36 is a failed mark in standard grading system. It may still be acceptable considering many other factors that might have led to mass failure. But it is pertinent to inform stakeholders in this system to shun anybody below such point (36%).”

In his reaction, Intellectuals further explained “it is not a crime to politicise governance as who works with the pulpit should definitely benefits from it. But politics should not in anyway be taken near classroom”.

“Should the state really needs quality delivery in classroom, then classroom Instructors should strictly base on merits. Merit in this case is not just certificate but physical and psychological evaluation couple with discipline and integrity”

As a classroom Instructor with many years of classroom experience, I have come to conclusion that many students were unsound in a particular subject because they were been taught by teacher who do not really understand the subject.
Many students were not discipline because they were exposed to indiscipline even within the school premises not only from peer group but from trusted authorities.

Any subject teacher in the senior secondary school must be able to prepare students excellently for both SSCE and JAMB examinations respectively in that particular subject.

Conducive learning environment is just about 40% in quality education. The state government should with highest level of monitoring ensured sieving out non competent hands from classroom if truly we want results on efforts already put in place in our education ministry.

Conclusively, we need teachers who can teach our students to making A’s in SSCE. We need teachers who can handle teaching of students when it is time for the “OYO JAMB EXTRA-MURAL CLASSES”.
We need teachers who students can see as role model in brilliance and attitude.
