Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has said the tragedy that claimed lives of 35 children could have been avoided if those involved had played their roles as expected by following due processes.
“Birthday celebration is the least thing after that tragedy. This is because of the people involved and this is what would have been avoided if those involved had played their roles very well.
“So, I cancelled the birthday celebration because we are mourning. The incident is sobering enough for me and I don’t want to shift blames.
“In this year, two major avoidable incidences have led to loss of lives. I am talking about the explosion at Bodija. And again, few days to Christmas, another tragedy happened.”
