The Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a comprehensive membership revalidation, mobilisation and registration exercise aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence across the state.
Speaking at a press conference held at the NUJ Hall, Iyaganku in Ibadan, the Chairman of the Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee, Chief Bisi Ilaka, described the exercise as a critical step toward repositioning the party for future electoral success.
Ilaka said the initiative was designed to reconnect with existing members, attract new supporters and deepen grassroots participation across the state’s political structure.
According to him, the programme seeks to strengthen ADC’s membership base and expand participation across communities in the state.
He noted that the exercise will ensure that citizens who believe in the party’s vision of transparency, accountability and participatory governance are properly registered and involved in the party’s activities.
Ilaka stated that Oyo State has 351 wards across 33 Local Government Areas and 6,389 polling units, all of which will be covered during the registration exercise.
He explained that the committee is determined to ensure that the process reaches every ward and community in the state.
The MRMR chairman revealed that the committee overseeing the exercise consists of 11 members, including himself as chairman and Barrister Saheed Oyebisi, with members drawn from the three senatorial districts of Oyo South, Oyo Central and Oyo North.
He further disclosed that, to ensure effective mobilisation and proper coordination, three members will be assigned to each Local Government Area while another three will operate in every ward across the state.
According to him, the strategy will guarantee thorough registration and ensure that no eligible member or supporter of the party is left out.
Ilaka called on residents of Oyo State to support the party by participating actively in the registration exercise.
He urged both existing members and new supporters to take advantage of the opportunity to become part of the party’s movement for positive change.
During the briefing, Ilaka also commended the leadership of the party at the national level, particularly David Mark, the National Chairman of the ADC, and Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary, noting that their leadership has played a significant role in strengthening the party’s structures across the country.
He stressed that the membership revalidation and mobilisation drive would help build a strong and vibrant network of party members capable of positioning the ADC for success in the 2027 general elections.
Ilaka added that the unveiling of the programme represents a call to action for party members and supporters across Oyo State to work together in building a stronger and more inclusive political movement that can deliver good governance and development for the people.
