Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, this Tuesday received the delegation of Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). The team was led to the Oyo State Government House, Agodi, Ibadan by the Director- General, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu. Receiving the delegation, Governor Makinde urged the NCDC to certify the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture as one of the laboratory testing centres for COVID-19.
The Governor, however, pledged the state readiness to join hands with the Federal Government contain the pandemic.
In his response, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, said his team was in Ibadan over the spread of Covid-19 in the state and to inspect its Isolation centers.
Dr. Chikwe who arrived at the government house, Agodi, Ibadan amongst NCDC officials dialogued with governor Makinde on ways the dreaded virus could be contain in Oyo state.
Shortly after the meeting, the DG embarked on an assessment tour to Isolation centers in the state including the infectious disease center, Olodo, Ibadan.
While addressing newsmen after the inspection, the NCDC DG said he was satisfied with the facilities he met but charged the state government to put more efforts and support the Federal government in curtailing the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria.
