Oyo state governor Engineer Seyi makinde has said that cattle alone should not be given identification but together with the cattle rearers to have a proper data base for cattle and their rearers in the state.
Governor makinde stated this while hosting the Nigerian Animal identification and Traceable system in collaboration with the ministry of Agriculture and rural development with Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association of Nigeria and other relevant stakeholders at the Government House, agodi, ibadan.
Makinde said that the state is ready to play her part to make the project a success. He assured that the present administration in the state would create an environment where all and sundry will strive together irrespective of tribe.
The governor added that everyone in the state irrespective of tribe need to work together to ensure the criminal element among the cattle rearers were fished out.
Chairman Southwest Miyetti Allah Cattle breeders, said that the animal identification would assist cattle rearers to identify bandit among the rearers.
He assured the state government to cooperate with the state government and other relevant body to make sure there is peace among the cattle rearers and the farmers.
