The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode has congratulated Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on his coronation as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Hon. Alawode joined the indigenes of Ibadan, the family of the new Olubadan, the government and people of Oyo State in celebrating Oba Olakulehin’s ascension to the ancient throne of his forefathers.
The council boss said the appointment and ascension of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin mark the beginning of a new era in Ibadanland.
Arole omituntun described Oba Olakuleyin ascension as a reward for his patience over the years climbing the ladder after being enlisted into the chieftaincy line as a Mogaji to reach the peak as the Olubadan.
Hon. Alawode commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Governor Seyi Makinde for his approval of Oba Olakulehin’s nomination by the Olubadan-in-council. He praised the Governor for his dedication to the progress and growth of Ibadan land and Oyo State at large.
Hon. Alawode trusts that the appointment of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, which validates the noble and cherished tradition of Ibadan people in selecting a traditional leader, will bring peace and prosperity to the land and continued honour to the crown.
He then prayed that Almighty God would grant the monarch long life, good health and the wisdom he needs for a successful reign.
The new Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was born on 5th of July, 1935 in Okugbaja Village within the proximity of Akanran, in the present day Ona-Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State to Pa Ishola-Okin Owolabi and Madam Adunola Aweni Opo AjilaranOmoyoade Owolabi.
The family has it’s ancestral homestead within the ancient city of Ibadan at Ita-Baale Olugbode.
Oba Olakulehin emerged as the Olubadan following the death of Oba Lekan Balogun on March 14, 2024.
