LOCKDOWN: Oyo/Osun Customs Command Generates N20bn in the Wake of COVID-19

 

The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command on Tuesday said it has generated a total duty of 20Billion Naira between January to April 2020.

The Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Comptroller, Hu Ngozi disclosed this during a press briefing held at the command’s headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.

The comptroller explained that the annual revenue target apportioned to the command was #62, 848, 518, 366.93 and the command was able to generate the sum of #20, 051, 805, 179 within four months.

Mrs. Hu further revealed that a total sum of #312, 189, 456 was generated by the command as duty paid value from January to April 2020.

She added that during the command’s anti-smuggling activities of March and April 2020, 310 drums of 100 liters each and 180 kegs of 25 liters each of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) were seized, with the claim that they will be auctioned and the proceeds will be remitted accordingly.

While given the break down of the total seizures, detentions, and condemnation of goods during the months under review, Mrs. Hu said 72 seizures and 63 detentions were made.
