Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has urged Nigerians not to be discouraged by the many wrongs confronting the nation but should rather focus on the positives
The Governor gave the charge in an address to commence an Independence walk as part of activities to commemorate the 60th Independence day anniversary of Nigeria.
In the early hours of this morning, members of the state executive council, top government officials across the arms of government, labour leaders, civil society groups, paramilitary bodies all converged on the arcade ground of the government house for a special Independence day walk
The procession led by officials of the Oyo state sport council was made colourful with cyclists and other sport enthusiasts as musical interlude added flavour to the special event.
The paramilitary groups equally played significant role in boosting the morale of the participants during the walk.
Earlier before declaring the walk open, Governor Seyi Makinde explained that the celebration of Nigeria’s 60th birthday had been organized modestly because of the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic
He charged Nigerians to look on the bright side and expand on the many positives in Nigeria while collectively championing the course of a better Nigeria.
The walk which commenced at the arcade ground had a stop over at total garden with the Governor excusing himself to attend a television programme.
