Barrister Olumuyiwa Makinde, the elder brother of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Aare Onibon Olubadan of Ibadanland, has said earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree in International Agribusiness marks “a new chapter” in his personal and professional journey.
Makinde, who completed the doctoral programme at the Lead City University, Ibadan, described the achievement as a defining milestone that will further strengthen his contributions to agricultural development and economic discourse in Nigeria.
Speaking with Goalpoacher News during the convocation ceremony on Wednesday, he explained that the process demanded dedication, research discipline and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
“Earning a PhD in International Agribusiness marks a new chapter for me. It has been a rigorous but fulfilling journey, and I am grateful to God and to everyone who stood by me throughout this process,” he said.
Makinde added that the knowledge gained through the programme has broadened his perspective on agribusiness, food systems and rural development, areas he believes are central to Nigeria’s future growth.
He also expressed appreciation to his brother, Governor Seyi Makinde for his encouragement and Dr Debo Akande for believing in his capacity and created enabling environment to excel in a new field of study.
Barrister Makinde equally appreciated the leadership and academic community of Lead City University for creating what he described as an enabling and intellectually stimulating environment throughout the course of his study.
